How I Became a Gypsy by H.O.B.

Carl Under the Short

When I first saw a Gypsy, it was at a bar called the “Dirty Rice” that was near my home in Lake Charles. Spydrmonkey, Big Toe, Rooster and a few others were hanging out there during a poker run. They seemed to be having a great time but I said, “NO WAY” would you see me wear a freakin’ yellow vest. Then Damifino started wearing one and he told me in no uncertain terms that it was NOT YELLOW, it was GOLD. Easy and Caution started wearin’ Gold and they knew I had sworn that I would NEVER wear colors so they never pressured me. They did invite me to ride with them to events and what nots. I started paying attention to these guys in "Gold" colors more and more.

Easy and Damifino have been friends of mine for years (not gonna say how many cause that would tell our ages) and when Damifino told me he would have gold on my back before it was over I laughed at him and said “NO WAY”, but I kept paying attention to the brotherhood, the family life, how the sisters were equal in patches and how it was built around the kids as well. I started thinking, “hey this is more of what I wanted out of friends and motorcycles, maybe I need to check into this some more”. So I started asking Easy and Caution more about the Gypsy MC and I rode with them more and then decided that this is the place for me and my wife if there ever was a club that we would join.

First off, My wife is NOT my property and here she would be equal. So I started hanging out with them even more just to be sure there wasn't something being hidden from us, the more I learned and the more Gypsys I met the more WE liked it. When I thought about it long and hard I asked my wife, “Bottoms Up” if she would be interested in joining she said sure she would love to SO I went to Easy and said I think I want to be a Gypsy. I thought he was going to flip out of his chair. He laughed and said I would have bet my paycheck I would never hear you say that, but SURE brother I would love to bring you in to the club. Then, I called Damifino and he just laughed at me and said I knew you would come in, just a matter of time after seeing how things really are here.

Since we became family with all of you I have learned a lot and have felt so loved by soooo many that it has actually overwhelmed me. I didn't know how to take so many people hugging and telling me that they love me "brother" and be so serious and see it in their eyes. I was just, in awe over the love and this is a big family, So much LOVE and RESPECT from a MC. NEVER would I have thought this had I not started hanging around some brothers and seeing with my own two eyes. And to end this little memory lane episode I just want to say I WILL BE GYPSY THROUGH AND THROUGH FOR LIFE. I cut myself today just to see if I bled Gold... GFFG!!!

P.S. Unfortunately all good things come to an end. Me and Bottoms Up are no longer together. She turned in her colors and is in good standings. I hope to see her back in the club some day. Since then, I’ve started a new chapter in my life. I’ve met a good woman and am proud to say that I’ve brought her into the gold family as well.

I am not sure what made me write this because it took me almost a hour to type this much but just wanted to share with my family a lil about a coon ass in Louisiana who LOVES HIS GYPSY FAMILY ... I just wanted to share what brought me here - the love and brother/sisterhood that is a part of life in the Gypsy Motorcycle Club.

Here’s what happens when you party too hard with the Louisiana Gypsys. You might end up under the short bus. Leave the Swamp Water alone!
